Privacy policy
How Design Team collects, uses and protects your personal information.

This policy explains what personal information Design Team collects through designteam.ca, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Who we are
Design Team is a Canadian web design business based in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario. If you have a question about this policy or your information, contact us at hello@designteam.ca or (647) 761-5248. The person responsible for privacy at Design Team can be reached at the same email address.
Information you give us
When you fill in a quote or contact form on our website, we collect what you enter, which can include:
- your name, phone number and email address
- your business name and what your business does
- your current website address
- anything else you write in your message
We also collect information you share with us by phone, email or text when you contact us directly.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website, some information is collected automatically:
- How you found us. If you arrive from an ad or a link that includes campaign tags (for example a Facebook ad), our quote forms record those tags, the page you landed on and the website that referred you. This information is kept in your browser for your visit and sent to us only if you submit a form.
- Meta Pixel. We use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which uses cookies and similar technology to record the pages you visit on our site, when you send a form, and when you tap our phone number or email link. Meta uses this to measure how well our ads work and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. Depending on our Meta settings, the pixel may also send Meta a scrambled (hashed) version of contact details entered in our forms so Meta can match the visit to a Facebook or Instagram account. Meta's own use of this information is covered by the Meta Privacy Policy.
- Website hosting. Our website is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Fonts. Our website loads its typeface from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google and shares your IP address with Google.
How we use your information
- to reply to your enquiry and prepare your quote
- to contact you by phone, email or text about the website or services you asked about
- to provide the services you hire us for
- to understand which ads and pages bring us enquiries, and to improve our website and advertising
- to show our ads to people who have visited our website
- to meet our legal and accounting obligations
We don't sell your personal information.
Consent
By sending us a form or contacting us, you agree that we may use your information to respond to you as described here. If we'd like to send you marketing messages that you didn't ask for, we'll ask for your permission first, as required by Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL), and every marketing email will include a way to unsubscribe. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing hello@designteam.ca.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business, and only as needed for the purposes above:
- Netlify, which hosts our website and stores the forms you submit
- Meta Platforms, for advertising measurement and ad targeting through the Meta Pixel
- Google, which provides the fonts used on our website
- the email, phone and business software we use to communicate with you and manage our work
We may also share information if the law requires it.
Where your information is stored
Some of our service providers, including Netlify, Meta and Google, store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there, it may be accessed by courts, law enforcement and national security authorities in those countries under their laws.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry information for as long as we need it to respond to you and follow up on your request. If you become a client, we keep your information for as long as we work together and afterwards for as long as needed for our records and legal obligations. When we no longer need information, we delete it.
How we protect it
Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we limit access to your information to people who need it to do their work. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correction. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it.
- Deletion and withdrawing consent. You can ask us to stop contacting you or to delete your information, unless we need to keep it for legal reasons.
- Ads and cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can control the ads you see in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.

Children
Our website and services are meant for businesses and adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page.
